From the plaster model of Paris built on a 1/2000 scale in the 1990s to the digital model enabling visitors to truly discover the area.
The model was developed using Liquid Galaxy software and Google Earth, the leading geographical navigation software, downloaded over a billion times around the globe. The 37m² digital model, for the first time, enables visitors to view the city in HD.
With this easy-to-use model, visitors can take guided tours, navigate along geographical or thematic lines or search for points of interest. Suitable for all types of visitors: children, students, Parisians and residents of the Ile de France, French or Foreign professionals, the model is an invitation to explore the heart of the metropolitan area.
With over 1300 factors at the time of inauguration, Paris Métropole 2020 aims to present an overall view of the challenges faced by the entire metropolitan area, as well as the challenges of individual neighbourhoods.

"Paris a city in the making" retraces, from the origins of the area, the common history of the municipalities comprising the metropolitan area so that all visitors are able to understand how the region as we know it came to be. Following a timeline, from the Middle Ages to tomorrow, over 1000 archived documents, photographs, maps, plans and films are on display.

Through its various modes of representation, approaches and materials this new permanent exhibition is suitable for all visitors, from French and International professionals to informed amateurs, to children and more broadly speaking, anyone living in the metropolitan area.
"Paris, a city in the making" presents, for the first time in the same place, all the architectural and urban happenings of Paris metropolis "where projects of all scales, types and dimensions are discussed, exchanged and shared with the residents, with those who breathe life into the cities" Anne Hidalgo.
Reconquer the riverbanks inside Paris, continue to build the city paying more attention to the faubourgs and post war Paris, build on new land, improve public transport and public areas, develop key architectures, building upwards... emphasis is placed on the contemporary era and the impact that the current changes will have on the every day lives of its 12,000,000 inhabitants.
